Beautiful lines and handsome details lend good looks to a tool built for utility and the daily grind. The S-grind bevels are concave and then convex in choice proportions, thin throughout and stellar from top to bottom, maintaining strength while tapering to a pointed and fine tip at the 205mm / 8" mark. High Frequency damascus forged by maker Charlie Ellis modulates above an edge of darkly etched 1084 carbon steel to give the blade, together with integral bolster and harpoon-style profile, a striking appearance. Matching is a handle sculpted and carved from green-dyed maple burl with spacer of Turkish Walnut nested between yellow G10. Handcrafted by Charlie alongside the matching Low Frequency Petty 160mm.

The Story

A long-time blacksmith and bladesmith, Charlie Ellis crafts one-of-a-kind chef knives at his North Carolina workshop. Drawn to making kitchen cutlery originally by the need in his own kitchen for reliable, high-quality blades, the knives Charlie produced quickly advanced beyond objects of his own use, and soon become objects of art and precision for others to enjoy. Function-first designs with integral bolsters, compound bevel geometry, sculpted handles, and unique materials and blade finishes, are noteworthy elements of many of the kitchen tools in our collection handmade by Charlie.
