Classic Chef LS235

A handcrafted chef knife collaboration between Living Steel and Sweden's Joel Andersson and Adisa Copra, the talented team behind Andersson Copra, this elegant, French-style knife is built to be the go-to cutting tool for daily meal prep of all variety in home and professional kitchen alike. At 235mm / 9.25" long and standing 49mm tall at the heel, the blade is sculpted from Swedish Uddelholms UHB20C high-performance carbon steel, tapering steadily to a fine tip for detail work, and delivering a thin, hard, whetstone-sharpened edge beneath superbly shaped convex bevels. The blade receives a forced patina for extra protection and good looks, contrasting the rounded and high-polished spine and choil. Simple in form, wonderfully finished, and comfortable in any grip, the handle of polished black Bakelite is secured with three solid brass pins and capped with tapered brass bolsters.

The Story

Living Steel is a collaboration between Eatingtools' founder Abe Shaw and top designers and artisans around the world. First partnering with Joel Andersson and Adisa Copra of Gothenburg, Sweden in 2016 to carry their early and well-loved chef knife models, Abe again worked with them for the 2019 launch of Living Steel 626 to produce several limited runs of entirely handmade knives for the kitchen, including the Nakiri LS150, Parer LS115, Loop Bread Knife, and of course the exquisite Classic Chef LS235 seen here. Andersson Copra's wide-ranging experiencing in bladesmiting, object design, and endless other disciplines within metalsmithing, makes them the perfect partner to create world-class, purpose-built chef knives for the Living Steel collection.
