Wabi-Sabi Cooking Chopsticks

In artist Jim Dobbler's wonderful wabi-sabi style, full of character, not to mention utility, his approach to hand-hammered titanium chopsticks has been harnessed to create but a few sets of long serving and cooking chopsticks. Called saibashi in Japanese when used for cooking, or ryoribashi for serving, chopsticks offer wonderful finesse and precision when handling foods and moving them between locations, or simply for stirring and toosing in a pot or pan. Forged from solid titanium at his Massachusetts studio, Jim offers a tapered form that transitions from square tops to rounded tips, with a feel in the hand true to titanium's lightweight and nimble properties. each pair arriving with a comfortable, hammered texture, and a beautiful, anodized color palette. Each arrives with a hand-stitched leather tie.

The Story

Growing up in the US Midwest surrounded by objects and art from his parent's time in Okinawa, Japan, artisan Jim Dobbler later spent nearly two decades living out west exploring the Sierra Nevadas and Rocky Mountains, drawing inspiration from nature and eventually develop a rustic approach to his craft.. A self-taught maker, now specializing in a variety of disciplines, from 2D and 3D design, to the bladesmithing of chef knives, the carving and hammering of chopsticks, and more, Jim discovered knifemaking originally and has since progressed to forge, shape, and sculpt objects for the kitchen, working chef, and beyond.
