Blackwood Mosaic Santoku 150mm

Fresh from the studio of Detroit bladesmith Niko Nicolaides, this 150mm / 5.9" santoku in a gorgeous mosaic of low-layer damascus steel is poised for all variety of daily meal prep in any kitchen. Niko's outstanding convex bevel geometry, pronounced, freehand ground, and precisely honed for performance and cutting pleasure, begins at the 45mm tall blade heel and continues above the razor-sharp edge to a tapered and very fine tip, perfect for detail work, especially in a knife of this size. Balanced at the rear of the gorgeous, faceted integral bolster which shows off a second perspective on the damascus's pattern, the knife is comfortable and moves easily in the hand with the help of a full-bodied, tapered handle of African Blackwood with green boxelder spacer.

The Story

At his one-man studio in Detroit, Michigan, Niko Nicolaides creates custom chef knives with a focus on unique, house-made damascus pattern steel and hand-forged blades. A self-taught, full-time bladesmith, Niko worked previously as a CNC programmer and operator before leaving to hone his skills on the decidedly analog, artisan end of the object-production spectrum. A desire to make great looking, superbly functioning culinary tools that will last a lifetime is why he does it.
