With a stiff, sleek, 183mm / 7.2" blade shaped from AEB-L high-performance stainless steel with a silky, stain finish, this elegant fillet knife from Steve Pellegrino is an angler's dream. A short, slim, and comfortable handle hugs the fingers between the hooked element at the rear and the blade's guard in the front, offering control when cleaning and filleting the day's catch. Sculpted from amboyna burl and fitted with beautiful spacers of copper infused Fatcarbon carbon fiber, as well as a solid copper ring, the grip is secured with stainless steel pins. Nicely finished and polished from tip to heel, this knife from Steve's Philadelphia workshop will see no shortage of use, whether in the kitchen, on the dock, or on board.

The Story

The son of a woodworker and grandson of a sheet metal tradesman, bladesmith Steve Pellegrino has been creating with his hands since an early age. Whether experimenting in his father's basement woodshop, or launching homemade rockets (including one which reached 37,000 feet and a velocity of 1,688mph!), Steve's creative, engineering mind pushes boundaries, earned him a degree from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, and results in chef knives that are built for utility and performance. Steve's edges are thin and sharp, his balance natural and comfortable, his handles slim and efficient, and his fit-and-finish clean and crisp.
