Maple Damascus Tuna Sword 350mm

One of three tuna swords have come from Casey Vilensky's North Vancouver studio, but only one is available here, and it is exquisite in every way.  Pre-owned in new and unused condition, the long, slim, beautifully shaped blade boasts 350mm / 13.8" of house-made carbon damascus steel forged to shape and featuring strong, powerful, convex bevels above a razor-sharp edge. The combination of low and high-layer sections of the damascus' pattern results in a striking look from the high, upswept tip back to the sculpted integral forged handle bolster. Behind the tapering, octagonal bolster is first a spacer of carbon fiber, and then a long, carved, and comfortable piece of dyed and stabilized maple burl with which to wield this impressive tool. At the handle's rear is a flush fordite inlay. Made from the same maple as the handle, and featuring the same fordite for its pin, is a matching saya handmade by Casey.

This knife is pre-owned. If you have any questions, please contact us.

The Story

With two decades experience in the luxury automotive industry, bladesmith Casey Vilensky of Lynn Valley Forge now crafts one-of-a-kind custom chef knives at his one-man studio from homemade damascus patterns and in-house stabilized woods. Whether pushing the creative limits of mosaic damascus creation, sourcing unique and beautiful materials for his handles and sayas, or carefully hardness-testing the length of a blade's edge, Casey's precise yet artful approach to the craft results in kitchen cutlery that is built to use daily, and to turn heads doing it.
