Dead Finish Damascus Chef 237mm

A long and capable beauty of a kitchen cutting tool by Australia's Jackson Rumble is here, forged from house-made random pattern damascus with a dense, high-contrast finish and versatile, razor-sharp edge. Jackson's chef knives are notoriously wonderful slicer, always thin just below nicely shaped convex bevels, and this 237mm / 9.3" edge is no different, the spine tapering from a wide 3.9mm above the heel where strength and toughness are welcomed, down to less than 1mm as the needle-like tip approaches. Weighted and steady in the hand, this full size build features a stunning, octagonal handle of dead finish wood, also known as kurara, accented with a stainless steel spacer.

The Story

Having already taught knifemaking at the Tharwa Valley Forge, Australian bladesmith Jackson Rumble earned his Journeyman Smith rating from the American Bladesmith Society, and it shows. Jackson creates beautiful, handcrafted tools for the kitchen that walk the line between art and tool. Forging unique damascus steel patterns is at the heart of his creative pursuits, while edge and cutting performance drive every decision throughout the process. Jackson carefully develops and tests new formulas, putting each through a series of tests to affirm that it adheres his standards. Always aiming for clean lines and crisp finishes, Jackson’s work is superb, and just what we look for at Eatingtools.
