End Grain Damascus Nakiri 130mm

With a stunning blade that displays the end grain of a 450-layer damascus steel pattern house-made by bladesmith Casey Valensky of Lynn Valley Forge, this nakiri is every kitchen's dream. Not to mention the chefs. Thin, extremely sharp, and beautifully balanced, the integral construction adds to the welcome feeling of a long, perfectly shaped handle for controlling the blade as it's pushed through endless ingredients on the cutting board. Heat treatment is done in-house and methodically controlled and tested to achieve the 60 HRC hardness at every point along the edge. The locally sourced handle burl wood is stabilized in-house and is complemented by spacers of black G10, brass, and a piece of African Wenge, before reaching the bolster. Carved from the same piece of wood as the handle, the saya is fitted with brass rivets and an African Wenge pin.

The Story

With two decades experience in the luxury automotive industry, bladesmith Casey Vilensky of Lynn Valley Forge now crafts one-of-a-kind custom chef knives at his one-man studio from homemade damascus patterns and in-house stabilized woods. Whether pushing the creative limits of mosaic damascus creation, sourcing unique and beautiful materials for his handles and sayas, or carefully hardness-testing the length of a blade's edge, Casey's precise yet artful approach to the craft results in kitchen cutlery that is built to use daily, and to turn heads doing it.
